Christians and Secular Music

Image
Should Christians listen to Secular Music? This question is as old as Noah's days, the controversial subject had been on my mind for years, long before I became rooted and grounded in Christ. I never really understood why some Christians found it wrong  listening to secular music whilst others didn't. I always thought, music was just music, right? wrong! As I grew more in Christ, I began to understand why I was created and for what purpose. We were created for the glory of God.(  Isaiah 43:7 ) To live for and glorify Him in everything that we do and are. But secular music doesn't allow us to do so. Secular Music is defined as non-religious music. Not written for the glory of God or for the church. Secular music does not bring us closer to God in anywhere, in fact, Most secular songs opposes God and His word(the bible) and even blasphemes the Holy Spirit, which is the ONLY  unforgivable sin. ( Mark 3:29 ).  Anything that doesn't give glory to God, is sin. The

Don't ever force things.

Don't ever force things to happen the way you wan't them to. There is one thing we usually forget, that is God has already made a map of our lives. Every directions, which roads to take and not to take and which stops to make. He has already given us everything that we need in this journey of life. He promised to be with us till the end of time.(  Matthew 28:20 ) The problem with us is that we are in a rush, we don't want to wait for the right time. In fact, we don't like waiting at all. it's in our nature, but the word of God (the Bible) encourages us to wait on the Lord. The psalmist says"Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!"   Psalm 27:14 ,  He further says, "Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass". Don't force things at all! Don't force things to happen the way you want them to. Don't fight it when th

Having a relationship with God.

Image
Relationship with God A relationship is the way in which two or more people or things are connected or the state of being connected. What is our relationship with God? In  the book of   Philippians 4:20  declares that; Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen. The kind of relationship we share with God is that of a Father and His children. Just like a father has a crucial role to play in the lives of his children, so do children have a role to play in their father's life. What are the roles? We need to be obedience. We need to acknowledge His efforts. We need to show our love towards Him. To have a good relationship one needs to be ready to do the "loving sacrifice". There can't be a relationship without sacrifice.  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16   God sacrificed His only Son so we can have a relationship wi

What is Salvation?

Salvation "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,  not of works, lest anyone should boast.  Ephesians 2:8-9 Salvation is the saving of human beings from death and separation from God by Jesus Christ's death and resurrection, and the justification following this salvation. Helpful verses relating to the topic of salvation:  "But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name."   John 20:31 "But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name."  John 1:12 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Getting to know God God created you because He wants a relationship with you. He loves you. He wants you to know Him personally and intimately, not just know about Him. through God's written word (the bible) and through His only son (Jesus). God reveals that He wants you to enjoy a life that it's in line with His purpose and destiny for you. He wants to be a nurturing and powerful presence in your life, not just an idea in your head. Knowing Him means receiving  His love. Following Him means following His leadership. And let's tell it like it is: Accepting that leadership will affect you lifestyle. As you come to know God, He no longer is a concept simply to believed or disbelieved; He is a living reality who is known  and followed along a path that leads to freedom. According to the Bible, until you come to terms with Jesus, you haven't dealt with the issue that's most important in getting to know God. In John 14:6 Jesus said,  "I am the way, the tru
